Solaris is the brainchild of sibling filmmaking team Greg and Gavin O'Connor. Their debut film TUMBLEWEEDS - co-written and directed by Gavin, produced by Greg - was the winner of the Filmmaker's Trophy at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. Financed independently by the O'Connors, TUMBLEWEEDS was acquired and released by Fine Line Features. Actress Janet McTeer won the Golden Globe and was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance. In the spring of 2004, Disney released the hit flim MIRACLE, directed by Gavin O'Connor and produced by Greg O'Connor. MIRACLE stars Kurt Russell and tells the inspiring story of the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team's unlikely quest for the Gold Medal. With Josh Fagin, who heads the company's development, Solaris continues to develop and produce original and compelling stories for film and television. Films are set up at New Line, Universal, MGM, Revolution, Disney, and Icon. Solaris also remains commited to independent film and supporting new, original voices. In July of 2004, Solaris partnered with Paramount Television in an overall deal to develop and produce scripted dramatic and comedic series for network and cable. With Paramount, Solaris is developing series for CBS, ABC, UPN, FX, and Oxygen. Solaris is currently in production on the film PRIDE AND GLORY written and to be directed by Gavin O'Connor. PRIDE AND GLORY is set up at New Line and will begin filming in February 2006.
