MULE SKINNER BLUES SYNOPSIS: MULE SKINNER BLUES is a feature documentary that explores the artistic aspirations of a group of individuals living in a trailer park near Jacksonville, Florida. Our ambassador through this surprising world is the singing, dancing, kazoo playing Beanie Andrews. As Beanie introduces us to his fellow trailer park entertainers, we discover that for sixty years, he has been possessed by a bizarre vision: he wants to "rise from beneath the murky swamps behind the local junkyard in a blue ape suit looking for his severed arm." The vision leads him to Larry Parrot, a janitor who burns the midnight oil writing countless horror stories. Together, they pen "Turnabout is Fair Play," a fifteen minute horror script. When Beanie and Larry set off to enlist their trailer park comrades to collaborate, what ensues is an outrageous display of an eccentric community rallying together to showcase its individual "talents." A hefty slice of Americana, the film is a hilarious, but nevertheless touching testament to the vitality and social integrity of an oft-neglected portion of our population.
